# Oscar Nominated Indian Movies 2024: A Review
The Oscars 2024 are just around the corner, and this year, India has a lot to cheer for. Out of the 12 Indian movies that were submitted for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film, two have made it to the final list of nominees. They are:
- **Dunki** (Hindi), directed by Shah Rukh Khan, starring himself, Alia Bhatt, and Ranveer Singh. It is a story of a young girl who dreams of becoming a basketball player and faces various challenges along the way.
- **The Kerala Story** (Hindi), directed by Anurag Kashyap, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Radhika Apte, and Fahadh Faasil. It is a story of a journalist who investigates the aftermath of the Kerala floods and uncovers a conspiracy involving politics, religion, and corruption.
These two movies have been praised by critics and audiences alike for their powerful performances, realistic portrayal of social issues, and cinematic excellence. They have also won several awards at various national and international film festivals. They are now competing with eight other movies from different countries for the coveted Oscar trophy.
This is a historic moment for Indian cinema, as this is the first time that two Indian movies have been nominated for the Oscars in the same year. This is also the first time that a movie directed by a Bollywood superstar (Shah Rukh Khan) has been nominated for the Oscars. The last time an Indian movie was nominated for the Oscars was in 2001, when Lagaan, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, starring Aamir Khan and Gracy Singh, was in the race.
The Indian film industry and fans are eagerly waiting to see which movie will win the Oscar and bring glory to the country. The 96th Academy Awards will be held on March 10, 2024, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The nominations were announced on January 23, 2024.
We wish both Dunki and The Kerala Story all the best and hope that they will make India proud at the Oscars 2024. 🏆
